My First Day - Baby Eclectus Perspective
I
am
placed
in
a
dark
carrier,
I
am
scared,
I
am
taken
outside
which
I
have
never
ever
seen
before,
I
am
placed
in
a
car
on
a
seat
next
to
people
I
do
not
know
with
voices
I
have
never
heard.
I
am
hearing
noises
which
I
don’t
recognize,
now
and
then
some
one
picks
up
the
carrier
which
makes
me
stumble.
Sometimes
I
hit
the
sides
of
the
carrier
or
I
go
shooting
forward
hitting
the
front,
I
keep
moving
forwards
and
backwards.
Fingers
are
poked
in
my
carrier,
I
retreat
to
the
back
away
from
everyone
where
it
is
safe,
my
heart
is
beating
very
fast,
I
am
looking
for
my
cage,
my
companions
but
I
cannot
see
them,
I
am terrified.
All
the
noise
suddenly
stops,
I
am
taken
out
of
the
car,
I
enter
a
new
place,
the
level
of
noise
increases,
there
are
more
strangers,
it
smells
different,
it
looks
different.
People
stare
into
the
box,
I
retreat
to
the
back,
the
door
is
opened
and
I
scramble
to
the
back
as
far
as
I
can
go,
I
don’t
want
to
get
out.
I
am
placed
against
another
cage,
but
it
is
not
mine,
I
remain
where
I
am.
Suddenly
the
box
is
tilted,
I
start
sliding
down,
I
scramble
back
but
I
am
sliding,
I
grip
onto
the
sides
with
my
beak
and
claws.
Suddenly
a
wooden
spoon
is
poked
to
push
me
out,
I
move
sideways,
I
attack
it
with
my
beak
but
it
does
not
go
away,
I
keep
moving
all
over
the
box
trying
to
escape.
Suddenly
a
towel
comes
into
the
box.
It
gets
dark,
I
lunge
at
it,
I
am
very
scared,
something
then
grabs
me,
I
bite
as
hard
as
I
can,
I
shriek
whilst
trying
to
escape.
I
am
having
trouble
breathing,
my
heart beat is racing, I am terrified.
Suddenly
I
feel
the
grip
loosening
and
I
get
away
and
climb
into
the
cage
and
onto
a
perch.
I
sit
there
too
scared
to
move,
all
these
strangers
are
watching
me,
calling
me,
putting
their
fingers
through
the
bars.
They
then
move
away
and
keep
watching
me.
Suddenly
a
stranger
approaches
me
again,
the
cage
door
is
opened
and
the
hand
comes
in,
I
raise
my
feathers,
but
the
hand
keeps
on
coming.
I
move
back
until
I
can
feel
the
bars,
there
is
no
escape.
I
lunge
at
the
hand
again
and
again
and
the
hand
retreats.
The
towel
comes
back
and
I
thrash
around
the
cage,
I
am
caught
again,
I
bite
as
hard
as
I
can,
I
scream
and
I
am
unable
to
do
anything.
I
am
placed
in
a
lap,
I
cannot
move, my heart beat is racing, I am finding it difficult to breathe, I am gasping for breath.
My
head
is
being
stroked,
I
do
not
move,
I
am
too
scared.
I
feel
the
towel
relax
it’s
hold
on
me,
I
scramble
away
and
fly
to
the
other
end
of
the
room.
I
look
around,
there
is
no
where
for
me
to
go,
it’s
all
different.
A
very
short
time
later
the
same
person
comes
over
again,
I
try
to
escape
but
everywhere
I
go
I
am
getting
chased,
I
start
to
pant
as
I
have
never
flown
such
distances
before,
I
am
running
out
of
breath,
I
try
and
bite
the
hand,
the
towel
comes
for
me,
I
fly
and
get
away
but
I
am
being
followed,
eventually
I
am
too
tired,
I
scream
wanting
all
this
to
stop.
I
try
and
bite
the
towel
but
I
am
powerless,
I
am
restricted
in
breathing
with
the
tight
hold
around
me.
I
am
taken
back
to
the
cage
where
I
feel
a
bit
safer
and
then
I
am
left
alone.
The
next
day
it
starts
all
over
again,
I am terrified of these people.
Although a bit extreme this is a real life account, I hope the reader can understand how a simple series of oblivious actions due to the
new owner being too eager and keen can have a devastating impact on a new baby with everlasting consequences for both sides of the
relationship.
